Founded in 1987, Northern Crane Services ("NCS") is the largest independent full service crane-operating company in Alberta. Majority owned by Canadian investors, NCS has been a long-time participant in the growing Alberta economy. NCS prides itself on being one of the most versatile and quick to mobilize crane service providers in the business. With many years of full-time operating experience, NCS has encountered every conceivable challenge associated with the business while learning new and better ways to address some very unique circumstances.
Plant maintenance and shutdowns are one of the specialties of NCS; it has successfully performed these services for all of the plants in the Alberta Oilsands region. NCS is an active participant for similar work in other plants for most of the other large energy companies in the province.
NCS has a knowledgeable and dedicated workforce of employees committed to serving its customers. In addition to its employees, NCS has a diverse fleet of approximately 100 cranes, ranging in size from 8 tons to 1,000 tons. The Company's fleet consists of carrydecks, picker trucks, folding tower cranes, rough terrain cranes and all terrain cranes. Northern Crane Services is located in Edmonton and Fort McMurray. The Fort McMurray office is located at the Ruth Lake site, between the Suncor and Syncrude plants, in the heart of the oil sands. In the coming years NCS plans further expansion throughout Canada through branch expansion and acquisitions of complimentary companies.
